14.3.1 How to use GPIO pads?

RPi-Spark pHAT offers 19 GPIO expansion pads that you can easily to get access more sensors or other expansion circuits. Usually you need a little soldering technique to use these pads. In this section we show you some ways to make RPi-Spark's extended GPIO pads easier to use.

Soldering to the GPIO pad using a 21 PIN header makes it easier to extend the circuit. Next we introduce the steps of this method:

1. Prepare materials

Prepare a 21 PIN header, as shown in the figure:

2. Soldering

The alignment position is ready for soldering. First solder the No. 1 pad, then solder the No. 2 pad. Finally, all the pins soldered in turn. Figure:

Note: The right second pin and left second pin headers do not need solder.

3. Soldering

Finally, all the pins soldered in order. Figure:

4. Remove unused pins

After soldering, we use tools to remove unused pins. Figure:
